Welcome back to the BuzzFlash.com GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

Calling George W. Bush a hypocrite is like calling a thief a criminal. It's just plain redundant.

And that's an apt analogy, because when hypocrisy forces unnecessary death, injury and nightmarish conditions upon thousands upon thousands of people, being a hypocrite is a crime, a war crime.

At one of his staged and carefully choreographed appearances before the White House stenographer corps, Bush called Amnesty International reports of torture at Gitmo -- and we are quoting him -- "absurd."

Okay, okay, the army has basically confirmed torture took place, Bush's then White House Counsel and Rumsfeld authorized it, dozens of detainees have died inexplicably after their "interrogations," but Bush calls it all just "absurd."

Of course, Bush doesn't bother to read much, which is absurd in its own right. If he had read that August, 2001, National Security report warning of imminent Al-Qaeda hijackings in the United States, then 9/11 might not have happened. But that would be too much to ask of a man at war with reality.

And, at the same time he denied torture had taken place under his watch, he was declaring everything "on track" in Iraq. The only problem was he said it on a day that the so-called insurgency was taking a record number of lives, the U.S. "accidentally" arrested the Sunni leader, and Baghdad was being defended as if the siege of Stalingrad were underway. But to George, things were going just swell in his 51st state.

A lot of people who give Bush a pass say things like, "Well he's a hypocrite and he lied to America, but he did get rid of Saddam." Well getting rid of a tyrant and replacing him with evil under a different brand name doesn't make you virtuous; it just makes you a hypocrite.

And that's why Bush hasn't yet condemned the Butcher of Uzbekistan, his good buddy, after hundreds of protestors for democracy were gunned down. Because Bush, born of the privileged class, believes he is entitled to hypocrisy, even when lives are at stake.

Until next week, remember our motto at BuzzFlash.com: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.
