Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

Skip the sex, what we have here is lies and videotapes.

For the past few years, whistleblowers of every political stripe have been coming out of the closet to expose the mendacity of the Bush Administration.

But the Bush Administration lies with such wanton abandonment, people don't hold them accountable. And the mainstream press still is deferential toward the White House as if they had a record of telling the truth, instead of misleading America on a daily basis.

So now we have the smoking gun on videotape that Bush knew that the levees in New Orleans might break. A few days after hearing this, he assured the nation that no one anticipated that the levees might break.

If this were a criminal trial, the videotape about the imminent disaster that Hurricane Katrina was going to bring to the Gulf Coast -- including the danger to the levees -- would be the evidence that put the defendant behind bars.

But, in the world of the mainstream media, they will still be pretending that Bush, Cheney and his spokespeople are credible.

As one of our former GOP Hypocrites of the Week opined -- and she is the White House correspondent for the New York Times: "You can't just say the president is lying. You don't just say that...You can't say the president is lying -- that's a judgment call."

And true to form, the New York Times couldn't bring itself in its news coverage of the monstrous Katrina lie to the nation to say that Bush -- well -- lied.

Well, if it's not the role of news reporters to ascertain if someone is lying, even when irrefutable proof is placed in front of their servile faces, then they aren't reporting news; they are transcribing mendacious propaganda.

George W. Bush has been caught as surely with the smoking gun as Dick Cheney was a couple of weeks ago. Only Bush's negligence resulted in the devastation of a city, the deaths of hundreds of people, and billions of dollars in losses.

The man is a lying crook, pure and simple. And this week BuzzFlash.com's GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

Until next week, remember our motto at BuzzFlash.com: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.

Catch up with you soon.
