Matt Lauer
Welcome back to the GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
We don’t know who Matt Lauer voted for in 2004, but seriously
interviewing Ann Coulter on the “Today Show” makes you
a GOP Hypocrite.
That’s because Coulter is an individual who, if she were a Democrat,
would be arrested on sight if she showed up in the NBC studios. BuzzFlash
readers know how vile and detestable she is, but her calls for the
deaths of “liberals,” the bombing of the New York Times
building, and the destruction of all Muslims (among other exhortations)
makes her a terrorist provocateur, not just another shock troop GOP
propaganda shill.
Coulter appeared on the “Today Show” to plug her latest
inflammatory book and gain some publicity to push its sales. In the
course of the interview with Lauer, she attacked the 9/11 widows in
the most uncivilized,
loathsome and inexcusably hideous manner imaginable.
Coulter did everything to degrade television standards of decency except
stand
up on her chair, lift her skirt, and sing “Springtime for Hitler
and Germany.”
Lauer did, we concede, make an effort to challenge Coulter about her
unseemly assertions about the 9/11 widows, but he sealed his fate as
an enabler when he closed the segment by saying, "always fun to
have you here."
As we all know, NBC is owned by General Electric, which is as close
to the Bush Administration as a nut to a screw. Lauer, whichever party
he may vote for, is a GOP hypocrite for continuing to host the “Today
Show” and accept partisan “assignments,” such as
interviewing Coulter. If he had any dignity, he would have resigned.
But by “going with the flow” and giving Coulter a platform,
Lauer is pretending that he has journalistic integrity when he is cavorting
with a right wing terrorist.
For that reason, Matt Lauer is named the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite
of the Week.
