Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week
Right on the heels of GOP Senator George Allen finding his inner racist,
we discover another Republican Senator, Conrad Burns of Montana, has
stepped
right into the GOP trough of bigotry.
Burns proved his bonafides as a Bushevik racist when he referred to Arabs
as "ragheads" a few years back.
Most recently, Burns was caught on tape referring to his house painter
as a "nice Guatemalan man." Maybe that's a compliment.
Except that Burns went on to say, "The other day, the little
fella who does our maintenance work around the house, he's from Guatemala,
and I said, 'Could I see your green card? 'No.' I said, 'Oh gosh.'"
Maybe, Conrad then petted the nice "little fella" to console
him.
You see, Burns is an adamant opponent of granting citizenship and working
rights to illegal immigrants, so that sort of makes him a bigot and a
hypocrite.
According to an Associated Press story, Burns like to "joke" about
such things: "Burns said he was on the phone with his contractor
when he saw an interview with an illegal immigrant on television. The
immigrant said he was a roofer and was headed north. 'So I told my roofer,
you better go out and get your help,' Burns said. 'Or you won't get my
house roofed.'"
Boy, that Burns is a barrel of laughs, isn't he?
No, not really, what he is is the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so
little time.
Catch up with you soon.
