September 15, 2006 | SEND TO A FRIEND Disney/ABC
To call Disney/ABC hypocritical somehow seems horribly inadequate. It's as insufficient as calling Osama bin Laden an inconsiderate person. But, it will have to do for this week. BuzzFlash documented in several editorials the perfidy of a corporation that uses the public airwaves to air a political ad for the GOP game plan, just weeks before a national election. This is called electioneering. When cornered, ABC/Disney called the "The Path to 9/11" a dramatization. Originally, however, it was called a historical project -- and overseas they labeled it as historical fact. It was, however, neither. It was akin to one of those crazed right wing books you see at bookstores, the so-called objective historical analysis with titles like, "Clinton Ate Six Children While Plotting to Destroy America." The misleadingly titled "The Path to 9/11" should really have been called "The Path Disney/ABC Took to Let a White House/David Horowitz Extremist Cult Rewrite History With the Goal of Influencing an Election using the Memory of 9/11." A bit long, but appropriate. ABC/Disney abused their broadcasting license. It should be revoked. But for now, all we can do is declare them the "BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week." They have truly earned it. Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time. Catch up with you soon. * * *
