So Many Republican Hypocrites, So Little Time

Sometimes we just think that we should create a site called George W. Bush, GOP Hypocrite of the Day. After all, we would have more than enough material to fill it up with evidence.
As the election approaches, it's difficult not to think about the satirical Onion headline that appeared shortly after Bush's first inauguration. It had him declaring in his Inaugural Address that America's "Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over."
How prophetic and tragic humor can sometimes be.
This week, with nothing but failure, death, spite and debt as his
accomplishments, George W. Bush fell back on his old
ugly tricks.
In a rather ironic moment, the man whose verbal dysfunction has spawned a bookstore of reading material, told everyone's favorite right-wing radio drug addict, "Anybody who is in a position to serve this country ought to understand the consequences of words." It is hard to fathom any administration where the value of words has been more demeaned. They have been rendered to have no substantive value, except as demagogic code phrases to press the emotional hot buttons of bigotry, division, exclusion, and fear.
But more importantly, words are secondary to deeds. And neither the media nor his "base" has held Bush even remotely accountable for his abysmal, deceitful, delusionary actions while in the White House.
"Words" should matter; but they don't matter to Mr. Bush, nor do the depravity of his deadly deeds.
We need leaders who will summon our courage, not our fears. Bush's appeal to his base, in "words," is an appeal to the basest instincts in the human soul.
He is our BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week, once again, because words do matter; and his words are used to divide and weaken our nation.
Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.
