EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW
Heather Wilson
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
It wasn't until Congress subpoenaed a U.S. Attorney who was fired to
make way for a Bushevik enforcer that Republican Congresswoman Heather
Wilson fessed up. You see, the New Mexico U.S. House member had called
the fired U.S. Attorney to try and get him to speed up a corruption
investigation of a Democratic office holder in the southwestern state.
Wilson doesn't remember it that way, but she didn't "remember" the
phone call at all until the U.S. Attorney was about to tell a Congressional
committee of Wilson's
conversation with him: "Iglesias
[the fired New Mexico U.S. Attorney] testified in front of the Senate
Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that in the Oct. 16 phone call, Wilson
pressured him for details about sealed indictments."
"The second she said any question about sealed indictments, red
flags went up in my head," Iglesias said. "We cannot talk about
indictments until they're made public. We specifically cannot talk
about a sealed indictment."
Wilson, no doubt, will go from denial to admission to hiring a criminal
defense attorney, as did GOP Senator Pete Domenici, also of New Mexico,
who went the same route of trying to interfere with
a federal investigation.
In one of those Bushevik ironies, Wilson was said to be contemplating
running for Domenici's U.S. Senate seat if he doesn't seek office again.
In 2006, however, she only won her Democratic-leaning House district
by 900 votes. Now she appears to have done herself in.
Another irony worth noting is that all the U.S. Prosecutors fired in
InjusticeGate were appointed by Bush to replace Clinton U.S. Attorneys.
In short, the White House –- through Gonzales -- fired Bush appointees
to replace them with even more partisan Bush appointees.
It's a travesty of justice and completely inappropriate for a member
of Congress to call a U.S. Prosecutor just before a national election
and subtly or directly try to influence the timing of possible indictments
to influence the outcome of the vote.
But Wilson –- and Domenici –- were no doubt doing the bidding
of Karl Rove, whose protégé was named the acting Little
Rock U.S. Attorney, no doubt, to try and create some legal problems
for Hillary Clinton (Whitewater II, no doubt).
For that betrayal of the public trust and misuse of authority, Heather
Wilson is named the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites,
so little time.
Catch up with you soon.
