June 29, 2007 | SEND TO A FRIEND | GET EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW California Republican Party
The California Republican Party is having a tough time with immigrants -- but not because of the usual debates over Mexican border crossers. For the nation's largest state GOP, the troubles hit closer to home. First the party was forced to admit it had hired a Canadian citizen with no political experience to be its new political director, under the H-1B visa program -- a program that grants temporary visas. Now revelations have surfaced that the party's chief operating officer, an Australian citizen, was ordered deported in 2001, spent one month in jail and then filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging wrongful arrest. The officer resigned on Sunday.Wow, that's some hypocrisy. Maybe the Australian was fired because he couldn't cut hedges in front of Party headquarters? As BuzzFlash has repeatedly pointed out, the so-called "immigration" bill is one of those misleading euphemisms that disguise the real objectives of a law. Let's face it, the rabid opponents of the legislation aren't concerned about high-tech workers, white GOP Party administrators, or Polish maids. They fear the swarthy skinned "hordes" coming in from Mexico. In short, what they are considering in D.C. is a "Mexican immigration control bill." So, maybe the hypocrisy of the California GOP hiring non-Americans to run its organization shouldn't surprise us. The ones in question are white males, and the rabid Republicans aren't upset about them at all. Now that's some "Rio Grande" hypocrisy for you, GOP style. Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time. Catch up with you soon. * * * This is the California Republican Party's first
