EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW
Alberto Gonzales
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
First we want to take note of a CNN headline on August 2: "Gonzales
to senators: 'I may have created confusion.'"
Okay, stop your snickering now. We've said it since we began BuzzFlash
in May 2000, the sheer brazen audacity of the Busheviks just takes
your breath away.
The evolution of Bush water boy and torture boy, Alberto "Consigliere" Gonzales,
into serial perjurer and authorizer of criminal activity has taken
a new turn.
Everything can be explained -- after possibly the most tortuous series
of contradictions, evasions, and lies presented as Congressional
testimony in recent years (unless you count Rumsfeld, but he was
able to squeeze by on softball questions from a Republican Congress)
-- with the simple recognition that the Attorney General of the United
States is just a little confused about things, such as which illegal
activity he was perjuring himself about at a given time.
Yes, it sure is hard when you are the chief law enforcement officer
of the United States of America to keep track of which laws you authorized
your bosses to break. That's a mighty confusing task indeed, especially
when so much illegal activity has been going on right under your
nose -- and with your permission.
So, you can understand Alberto getting illegal action "A" mixed
up with illegal action "B" -- or for that matter "C," "D," "E," and
right down the alphabet.
Gonzales -- like Bush, Cheney, Rove, and a host of others – is
a criminal to be sure. But, he is also an uber hypocrite.
After all, it takes a bit of chutzpah to be the person in charge
of enforcing the law -- and spend most of your time breaking it.
Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites,
so little time.
Catch up with you soon.
