EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW
All The Closeted Republican
Gays Who Support Anti-Gay Legislation
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.
Okay, let's repeat, it's not being gay that matters (why should we care about
anyone's sexual preferences in a free society), it's the hypocrisy that counts.
And for some reason, even the likes of Joe Scarborough (who came from the high-hormonal
heterosexual hypocrisy wing of the GOP when he was a Congressman) commented this
past week that the Republicans have a closeted Gay "problem."
Mike Rogers is the gay D.C. blogger who has outed many Republican elected officials.
As he notes, he only reveals the homosexual activities of politicians who actively
vote or advocate against gays. In short, it's not the lifestyle; it's the stirring
up of homophobia by hypocrites who have compartmentalized a sexual orientation
that they publicly condemn.
Rogers claims to have 30
high-profile Republicans lined up and ready to expose
for their hypocrisy on homosexuality. "I
write about closeted people whose records are anti-gay," he says. "If
you're a closeted Democrat or Republican and you don't bash gays or vote against
gay rights to gain political points, I won't out you."
Anyway it's hard to out an outwardly homophobic, privately gay Democrat, because
they are difficult to find on Capitol Hill, since the Democratic caucus is generally
supportive of live-and-let-live as far as sexual lifestyles. Heck, you have representatives
such as Barney Frank and Tammy Baldwin who are openly, proudly gay.
Meanwhile, one
blog claims
there are four individuals likely to be on Mike Rogers' hit list: Congressmen
Patrick McHenry and David Dreier -- and Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
and Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, from Kentucky.
There have been rumors about the first three circulating for quite some time,
but McConnell would be the big bombshell (he's married to Bush's Secretary of
Labor), particularly because he is the lead player in getting Larry Craig to
resign -- and keep him resigned. He's also a corrupt creep, but that's another
story.
So this week's BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week honors go to all those Republicans
who espouse homophobia for political gain, while enjoying their homosexual activity
in their private lives.
Come out of the closet and free yourselves from what must be torturous self-loathing.
Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little
time.
Catch up with you soon.
