February 15, 2008 | SEND TO A FRIEND | GET EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW Joe Lieberman
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week. Or is it the BuzzFlash Democrat Hypocrite of the Week? Or is it the "Independent" Democrat Hypocrite of the Week? Of is it Joe Lieberman, who is all of the above? In 2000, Sen. Joe Lieberman appeared before the Democratic National Convention as the nominee for vice president. Four years later, he competed for his party's presidential nomination.Lieberman is waiting until January 20, 2009 to open a bottle of wine to celebrate McCain's inauguration as president, if things transpire as "Joementum" would like. There are some downsides for Lieberman in his decision. The DNC stripped him of his superdelegate status at the Democratic Convention because he is supporting the candidate of the opposing party for president. According to his home state Yale Daily News, "Lieberman's endorsement puts him at odds with a statement he made in a July 2006 debate against primary challenger Edward 'Ned' Lamont SOM '80. At the time, Lieberman pledged to support a Democrat for president in the 2008 election." Oh well, what's a promise to a sanctimonious, full of himself, senator? We are naming Lieberman the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week because he still maintains his seniority and Senate committee power as a member of the Democratic caucus. He knows that he's currently the one vote advantage that allow the Dems to maintain majority control in the Senate, so he realizes that he can get away with whatever he wants, short of murder we presume. Oh Joe, you could have been a mensch, but instead you've become a bit meshuggah. Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time. Catch up with you soon. |
