January 16, 2009 | SEND TO A FRIEND | GET EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW George W. Bush
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week. To paraphrase what Richard Nixon said when he lost the race to be governor of California after losing the presidency to JFK, "You won't have me to kick around anymore." And that's how BuzzFlash feels about the legendary buffoon of the new millennium, the illegitimately anointed President: George W. Bush. The BuzzFlash community really jelled during the 2000 Supreme Court theft of the presidency on behalf of the dunce of the Bush family litter (and that's some achievement being at the bottom of the Bush Kennebunkport IQ ladder). And from the moment that Bush was sworn in, he played to the hilt the part of an empty suit with a pea for a brain stage-managed by Karl Rove. His arrogance was only matched by his distinctive ability to make anything put before him worse, not that he broke a sweat about it. We can't repeat 8 years of infamous dereliction of duty in this final BuzzFlash GOP hypocrisy award to Bush while he occupies the office, but we can return to one subject that still haunts us: how does Bush get away with his failure to prevent 9/11? This is what we wrote as a January 16 morning headline on BuzzFlash to a wire service headline and story: "In farewell speech, Bush says he kept nation safe." Uh, George, you were warned about 9/11 type hijackings and did absolutely nothing to prevent them. 9/11 happened on your watch, due to your cocky negligence. So what the Hell are you talking about? "In farewell speech, Bush says he kept nation safe." Uh, George, You Kicked the CIA Briefer Out Who Warned You About Hijackings by Al Qaeda and You Did Nothing to Increase Airport Security and Then That Thing -- 9/11 -- Happened. So What The Hell are You Talking About? It's all documented. Bush was given a red alert about possible Al Qaeda hijackings and did nothing, absolutely nothing to prevent them; not even a warning to increase security at airports. That's some hypocrisy, doing nothing to prevent 9/11, terrorizing America with fear, waging an unnecessary war that caused enormous loss of life and cost hundreds of billions of dollars… but why go on. It's a list that feels like it spans decades, not just eight years. Bush claims he kept America "safe" when, in reality, he achieved Al Qaeda's goals of running this nation into the ground. But we will survive because we are greater than the diminished person who had his hands on the steering wheel of this nation for far too long -- one day was far too long. We won't have you to kick around as President as of this coming Tuesday, George, so we present your last BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week Award while you still sleep in the White House. We know nothing keeps you up awake at night, nothing. Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time. Catch up with you soon. |
